My mother's birthday is this coming Friday, so today's blog post is dedicated to her!!!
(...this is her, with my father...)
(...this is her, with my father...)
Man, where to begin... I love her, first of all. And she loves me too. In fact, she probably loves me more than just about anyone. My mother is my biggest fan.
Actually, it's kind of funny to refer to her as the biggest anything. She's a very petite woman, my mother.
I always appreciated the way she and my father balanced out one another, how they both played very distinct roles in the parenting process. For example, when I was very small, I used to get a lot of ear aches. I'd lay in my bed at night and moan...
My father offered a tough, walk-it-off kind of love...
...but my mother was more of a nurturer...
Oh, and my mother saved my life (at least) once.
It happened one winter when she was walking me to preschool. I noticed a large pile of white fluffy snow.
And so, being a little boy, I jumped right in...
In that moment, she could've just kept right on walking. Afterall, she already had two other children. And I'd just demonstrated, as I was frequently wont to do, my lack of good judgement. Who would've blamed her?
But she didn't. Remember? She loves me.
And I love her too. Always.
Happy birthday, Mom.
It is nice Creekmore kids to read about your mom!
ReplyDeleteKristin never said much about her while she was in Japan at least not in my presence. She often mentioned your dad. Happy Birthday mother of the fabulous Creekmore (kids) young and independent TCK's. You did a great job with your children mom Creekmore!
